In 1991, an international port was designed in Vizhinjam. [1] In August 2015, the Kerala government and Adani Vizhinjam Port (AVPL), representing the Adani Group, signed the agreement for the Adani Vizhinjam project. However, in an unusual move just before the last hearing, the Commission`s mandate was inexplicably changed. The Commission was tasked with verifying whether the CAG report had any value in itself. But this has not been done for a variety of reasons. The project received a boost when the previous UDF government came to power in 2011 and the agreement was signed with the Adani groups under the PPP route on design, construction, finance, opera and transfer base (DBFOT). LDF had opposed the implementation of the project in the private sector and had made accusations of corruption in the agreement.
